Congress ecosystem rattled: PM on attending Ganpati puja at Chief Justice home

Days after his participation in Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud’s Ganpati puja celebration stoked political controversy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that power-hungry and divisive forces “had a problem with Ganesh puja”. “The Congress and its ecosystem were disturbed,” PM Modi said.
“Even at that time, the British who followed the policy of divide and rule used to hate Ganesh Utsav. Even today, the power-hungry people who are busy in dividing and breaking society are having problems with Ganesh Puja. You must have seen that the people of Congress and its ecosystem are rattled because I participated in Ganesh Puja,” the Prime Minister said while addressing a rally in Bhubneswar.
He emphasised that Ganesh Utsav is not just a religious festival but has historically played a crucial role in India’s fight for independence. Referring to the British colonial era, he highlighted how Ganesh Utsav was a rallying point for unity when the British were trying to divide and rule by sowing discord within Indian society.
Modi condemned the “hateful mindset” of those opposed to the celebration, accusing them of trying to spread poison within society. He urged the public not to allow such divisive forces to thrive, stating that their criticism of Ganesh Puja reflects their larger intention of dividing the nation.
“Those who thrive on dividing society still have a problem with Ganesh Utsav today,” he remarked.
PM Modi’s comments come amid criticism from opposition who questioned his involvement in the religious event alongside the judiciary’s top authority.
